During that time, van der Westhuizen implemented a new ICT infrastructure that connected the ICT environments of eight companies. He also led the deployment of a raft of business technologies including business intelligence, integration hub, ERP, Lync collaboration, CRM for Sales staff, WAN and moving of the datacentre.
The work was completed after negotiating and putting in place the right level of service agreements (outsourcing) and with the split of the ICT environment to reflect the new business units. A business unit was moved successfully into a complete private cloud, he says.
His previous roles included Group IT and Logistics Director at Redgroup Retail and ANZ CIO for Fonterra.

Apple co-founder, Steve Wozniak, together with New Zealand EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2014, Dan Radcliffe, have been announced as judges of the 2015 Talent Unleashed Awards, alongside Sir Richard Branson and a panel of high-profile tech and entrepreneurship experts.

Talent Unleashed 2015 gives two budding entrepreneurs the chance to win a trip to Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island. Richard Branson leads this year’s judging panel, and he will announce and personally present the 2015 Talent Unleashed winners at the global Awards final ceremony on 11 September in Sydney, Australia.
Now in its third year, Talent Unleashed is a world-first, global technology awards program for start-ups, entrepreneurs and visionary leaders, rewarding and recognising individuals who are unleashing, innovating and changing technology in business and the community, says Richard Earl, Talent International managing director.
More important, this year’s awards also launches a new category, for most disruptive CIO/CTO, says Earl.
“We've entered a time when no longer is it enough for a CIO to simply oversee the operations of IT,” Earl tells CIO New Zealand.
“Now, a truly inspiring and impactful CIO must be able to manage these areas, sure, but they also need to be able to effectively identify and harness new technologies that are going to benefit their business and drive tangible growth. We're looking for CIOs and CTOs who are doing just that.”

The Talent Unleashed Awards attract entries from New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, the UK and Europe. Talent will fly all Asia Pacific category finalists to Sydney for the Awards event on 11 September. There will also be an Awards event in London for finalists from the UK and Europe, with the two winners from that program pitching to be considered the overall 2015 Talent Unleashed Awards winner via video link at the Awards final in Sydney.

Shelley McMeeken is now CEO at the Halberg Disability Sport Foundation. The charity was set up by Olympian Sir Murray Halberg to enhance the lives of physically disabled New Zealanders by enabling them to participate in sport and recreation. McMeeken takes over from current CEO Geoff Burgess who has moved into the new role of Endowment Executive at the Halberg Endowment Fund.
