New CIO at healthAllliance

Johan Vendrig moves to HSA as chief operating officer; ex-Vodafone CIO Claire Govier takes on role.

Johan Vendrig, general manager information services at healthAlliance, is moving to software company HSA Global as chief operating officer.

Claire Govier, former CIO at Vodafone New Zealand, will be the new CIO at healthAllliance, the country’s largest shared services organisation and also number one in CIO100 (formerly MIS100), the annual report on the top ICT-using organisations in New Zealand.

Vendrig will leave healthAlliance in mid-September, and join HSA a month later.

“It is the future of healthcare,” says Vendrig on HSA Global a software company that specialises in the shared care management space.

"I am going back to a more commercial role, to further develop my general management and commercial skill,” says Vendrig on his new post.

Vendrig joined healthAlliance after nearly five years as CIO of the Auckland District Health Board - one of the owners of the shared services organisation. But his involvement in IT leadership roles in health began more than 15 years ago, in his native Netherlands, where he also completed a paper on health information systems at the University of Maastricht.

At EDS (now part of HP), he was manager for health accounts in Auckland and Wellington. He managed the outsourcing arrangement with Capital Coast Health when it outsourced its IT to EDS, now part of HP. He also worked as manager, strategy and business planning for eSolutions Alliance of Telecom and Microsoft. Related: On a merger mission

Govier, on the other hand, is working at healthAlliance as ICT project director and before that was involved in the ANZ National merger. She was CIO of Vodafone New Zealand for over two years.
