This month's issue of MIS New Zealand

Non-compete agreements

It is also an area where ICT executives are also becoming more involved in?–?both in helping set the policies around managing the critical data, and putting in place systems that capture and lock or at least ensure these are accessible only to authorised parties. Some CIOs are also asked to sign non-compete agreements.

Thus, you will note several articles this month tackle the strategies and experiences of a range of organisations in managing trade secrets, intellectual property and related concerns like patents and trademarks.

Their common message is the imperative of ensuring your organisation has effective policies and practices regarding management of these critical corporate assets.

Nevertheless, here is an MIS secret I wouldn’t mind sharing with you: Our editorial advisory board. Their regular feedback?–?and often frank critique?–?allow us to deliver true thought leadership to the New Zealand CIO community. And this month, I am pleased to welcome three new members of the board: Stephen Whiteside, University of Auckland ITSS director; Steven Mayo-Smith, Radius Health Group CIO; and Steve Watson, Port of Napier IT manager. The alliteration in their first names, by the way, is purely coincidental.
