​Northern Region district health boards sign mobile deal with Vodafone

healthAlliance, on behalf of the four Northern Region district health boards (DHBs) has signed one of the biggest mobile deals in New Zealand.

The multi-million dollar contract with Vodafone covers mobile, voice and data services for Northland, Waitemata, Auckland, and Counties Manukau DHBs.

healthAlliance is the Northern DHBs’ shared services organisation providing non-clinical support services to these four DHBs.

The new Telecommunications as a Service (TaaS) contract is under Vodafone’s Ready Government programme.

The contract not only provides good value for the taxpayer and the region, but also helps our DHB partners continue the enablement of their mobile and digital healthcare strategies, says healthAlliance CEO Myles Ward, in a statement. said he is pleased with the result of the negotiations with Vodafone.

The deal introduces affordable calling rates and increased data packages for designated DHB employees across the region, supporting the DHBs to become more digitised and mobilised.

As a key part of the partnership, Vodafone is working to help the DHBs further develop their mobility and digital strategies to improve the delivery of healthcare.

“The application of mobile technology within the healthcare sector has the potential to significantly increase efficiencies and improve patient experience," says Vodafone CEO Russell Stanners.

“We want to innovate in this space together and further strengthen our 10-year partnership with healthAlliance and the four DHBs it represents.”

Vodafone is a member of the New Zealand government panel for TaaS, which is administered by the Department of Internal Affairs, and reflects the goals of the Government ICT Strategy.
