Qrious has signed a conditional agreement to acquire NOW Consulting, the New Zealand-based data consulting division of WhereScape Software.

With this strategic move, Qrious says it has created a unique data and analytics offering in the New Zealand market.

Qrious says its mission is to be New Zealand’s go-to partner for data-driven transformation, and the acquisition accelerates Qrious’ growth towards this goal.

“The combined business will be a powerful offering for the New Zealand market,” says Nathalie Morris, CEO of Qrious, which is owned by Spark NZ.

“We’re responding to the growing demand from New Zealand companies for foundational data solutions and services that enable them to unleash intelligence and fast-track their access to the hidden wealth in their data.”

“The combined expertise of NOW Consulting and Qrious will offer customers access to a broader range of services, as well as a depth and breadth of talent and capability unique in the New Zealand market,” says Morris, in a statement.

“Both our businesses are passionate about partnering with customers to provide solutions that deliver tangible long-term value, and the opportunity to immediately offer more advanced analytics and AI services will be of real benefit for our customers and our people," says NOW Consulting CEO David Morris.

NOW Consulting will be integrated into Qrious over the coming months with Morris joining Qrious to head the data platforms and infrastructure portfolio.

Qrious will become the exclusive New Zealand reseller for WhereScape Software.

Taking total staff to over 170 across Auckland and Wellington, the acquisition makes Qrious one of the largest data and analytics specialists in the country.

Jolie Hodson, CEO of Spark, says that Spark is focused on further growing its data services and this acquisition is part of this.

“Data is fast becoming a business’s most valuable asset. When unleashed effectively, it provides a real competitive advantage,” says Hodson.

“We are proud of the position Qrious has already built as a leading innovator in New Zealand’s data and analytics space, particularly following Qrious’ successful acquisition and integration of marketing automation business Ubiquity in 2017.

“The acquisition of NOW Consulting is an excellent opportunity to accelerate the next stage of Qrious’ growth,” says Hodson.
