Dimension Data NZ creates new cyber security practice

Dimension Data New Zealand has merged a number of its business units to create a new cyber security practice

Dimension Data New Zealand has merged a number of its business units to create a new cyber security practice, saying the move is in response to the growing demand from clients and the ever-changing nature of cyber security threats.

It has merged its consulting, technical and managed security services with Security-Assesment.com, its ethical hacking and forensic security business, saying the move will deliver “true end-to-end cyber security capability” for its clients.

Dimension Data NZ CEO Wayne Yarr said the move reflected the fact that cyber security is was now a priority for CEOs and company boards.

“Our clients demand more than just an IT technology solution, they want to work with experts who not only understand their business but know how to execute and implement cyber security strategies – across policy, process and technology,” he said.

He claimed the Dimension Data security practice to be the most comprehensive in New Zealand thanks to the combination of local expertise and the backing of Dimension Data’s parent company, Japanese telco NTT.

“Our cyber security team of experts is made up of business consultants, technology architects, IT forensic specialists and testers who are able to engage at every level across the business,” Yarr said.

“In the case of an incident, the global capabilities of NTT Security will give Dimension Data the ability to reach into the rich database of security incident data that will help our clients recover.”

The new practice is headed by Matthew Lord who represents Dimension Data on the government’s Cyber Skills Task Force and is a past ANZ co-chair of the International Information Security Forum.
