Inland Revenue has released the first version of myIR mobile app, which was developed from ideas through a crowdsourcing competition.
“As technology changes the way companies carry out their day-to-day business, we must keep up with and meet their needs,” says Brett Calton, strategy manager integrated channels at Inland Revenue.
“Having listened to our customers, myIR mobile enables small business owners to interact with us simply and conveniently, 24 hours a day to deal with their GST information at the touch of a button”
The app has been developed specifically with small businesses in mind, and will help to streamline how these businesses file a tax return.
In this first version of the myIR mobile app, business owners need to be registered for GST and Inland Revenue’s myIR online service.
Inland Revenue worked with Sush Mobile to develop the app, which was designed with clarity and ease of use in mind. The forms, for instance, have been optimised for mobile devices.
Users can file their GST return or file a ‘nil’ return right from the app and pay either via their bank or credit or debit card. Additionally, users can update personal details and receive notifications ahead of due dates.
“Inland Revenue has a clear understanding of the ever-increasing customer and stakeholder expectations regarding speed of change and service offerings in the online, mobile and digital channels,” says its CTO Myles Ward in this year’s CIO100.
myIR is part of this focus to provide multiple channels for the public.
