CIO100 2015: Who are the biggest ICT users in New Zealand?

The annual report on the top ICT using organisations in New Zealand will be presented at breakfast forums on March 24 (Auckland) and on March 25 (Wellington). CIO speakers include Carl Powell of Fletcher Building and Victor Vae’au of the NZ Defence Force.

Carl Powell of Fletcher Building and Victor Vae’au of the New Zealand Defence Force will talk about CIO leadership amidst a constantly evolving business environment at the CIO100 breakfast events in Auckland and Wellington.

The results of this year’s CIO100, the annual report on the top ICT using organisations in New Zealand, will also be presented at the events on March 24 at the Pullman in Auckland, and on March 25 at the Foxglove in Wellington.

CIO100 is the flagship edition of CIO New Zealand and reports on the current strategies and future direction of the country's 100 largest technology users. The organisations are ranked based on screen numbers, staff and turnover. The report also features the top 10 business trends to prepare for in the upcoming year.

The event is open to CIOs and ICT directors.

Carl Powell of Fletcher Building will talk about the CIO as chief collaboration and innovation officer. He will also talk about his personal experience in the evolving role of the CIO, and how his experience in establishing and leading a successful start-up honed his general business skills before stepping into a global CIO role.

Victor Vae'au, CIO NZ Defence Force will talk about how he and his team are on a continuous mission of managing information as a strategic aspect of the organisation, and how they are providing a modern platform to enable the Defence Force to deliver on its mission critical goals.

The featured analyst speakers this year are Denildo Albuquerque, executive partner, Gartner and David Spaziani, executive partner, Gartner Executive Programs. They will talk about pointers for working with the board and the executive team.

John Paul Sikking, head of security at Cisco, will talk about the key pointers learned from his work with organisations in understanding and addressing security risks, plus Cisco’s experience in securing its own network in a disruptive and transformative time.

Steve Griffin, country manager at Unisys, will discuss the CIO agenda of driving innovation, based on the work of Unisys with New Zealand public and private organisations.

The program will feature a panel discussion on the top business technology trends CIOs should prepare for in the next 12 months. Panellists include David Spaziani of Gartner, Orion Health CIO David Kennedy and Manukau Institute of Technology head of ICT John Holley.
