Foodstuffs North Island embarks on multi-million dollar technology upgrade

Signs up with Fujitsu for one of the largest ICT contracts in NZ retail

Foodstuffs North Island has signed up a multi-million contract with Fujitsu as part of its business transformation systems and technology upgrade programme.

This multi-million dollar ICT tender is one of the largest in the NZ retail sector in recent times, with Fujitsu deploying an infrastructure of over 3000 integrated ETERNUS storage units, PRIMERGY servers, and Fujitsu Point of Sale (POS) controllers and touchscreens.

The contract will support the operations of nearly 200 PAK'nSAVE, New World, Four Square and Gilmours stores in the upper North Island.

The rollout is scheduled to be completed by mid-2015 and Fujitsu will continue to provide support and warranty for all devices.

“Fujitsu’s comprehensive infrastructure refresh will play a significant role in our transformational systems and technology renewal programme and will ultimately enable FSNI to take our business systems capability and customer experience to new levels,” says Peter Muggleston, Foodstuffs North Island CIO.

Foodstuffs North Island is one of New Zealand's biggest grocery distributors. It is one of three regional cooperatives of the Foodstuffs group, and covers the upper North Island from Cape Reinga to Turangi. It is number 16 in CIO100, the annual report on the top ICT using organisations in New Zealand.
