John Drayton is the new head of VMware in New Zealand, moving from HP where he was Southern regional sales manager.
Drayton, based in Wellington, has been working in the technology sector for more than 23 years including Oracle, PeopleSoft, Computer Associates and Equant.
He will focus on the government and public sector as well as financial services.
“Although New Zealand is a highly virtualised market, there is still significant opportunity for growth. VMware’s vision around cloud will allow clients to significantly change the dynamics of how they deliver services to the business, and increase time to value,” says Drayton in a statement.
He reports to Duncan Bennet, VMware vice president and ANZ general manager.
VMware New Zealand’s former head Tim Dacombe-Bird moved to Amazon Web Service as regional sales manager in July.
