IDG expands platforms for New Zealand ICT media titles

Delivers mobile optimised websites for Computerworld, Reseller News and confirms print and events programmes for CIO.

New Zealand’s leading business technology titles – CIO, Computerworld, Reseller News and PC World – are expanding their print, digital and events programmes under IDG Communications (IDG).

IDG is the world's leading technology media company with titles in more than 90 countries, and is the parent company of research firm IDC. IDG returned to managing the four brands directly after a five-year licence period with Fairfax.

Davy Adams, managing director for IDG in New Zealand and Australia, said "We are excited about the opportunity to build these brands by ensuring our content is optimised for our readers, irrespective of whether that is in print, online or on mobile devices. We will continue to publish CIO in print, including the flagship edition CIO100 (formerly MIS100)."

"We have only had control of the websites for 3 weeks and already we have delivered mobile versions, leveraging our existing technology platforms. We plan to use that same capacity to deliver really innovative online content, lead generation and advertising programmes."

The August/September issue of CIO New Zealand will be published by Fairfax Media. Barbara Simon, president and publisher of IDG enterprise division in New Zealand and Australia, says this will be followed by two more editions for 2013 – in October and December (Summer edition). From 2014, CIO New Zealand will be published every quarter (March, June, September and Summer).

IDG will also continue CIO community events including the leaders’ luncheons and breakfasts, technology forums and roundtable discussions. The New Zealand market will further be served by special editions and events on key business technology and IT topics across the year.

Davy Adams says the New Zealand titles will continue to deliver strong local perspectives and independent insights. At the same time, the local team will have the advantage of drawing insights and expertise from the unparalleled international network of IDG journalists, researchers, analysts and events personnel across the globe.

Apart from the four titles, IDG’s media brands include ChannelWorld, CSO, GamePro, InfoWorld, Macworld, Network World and Tech World. IDG’s media network covers 460 websites, 200 mobile sites and apps, and 200 print titles spanning business technology, consumer technology, digital entertainment, and video games worldwide.
