Endace takes out top award in PWC Hi-Tech Awards 2007.

Endace has won the Supreme Award and the Rakon Deal Award at the recent PricewaterhouseCoopers New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards held in Wellington. The theme for this year is “Kiwis can fly”. Judges commented that Endace, which leads in the network traffic monitoring technology space, continues to thrive, achieve, and to boldly venture where few New Zealand companies haven’t even thought of going. “An international exporter since day one, Endace stood out this year with its strong combination of product, market and business leadership," the judges noted.

Xero took out three awards including PR/Marketing Campaign for its strategy around a $15 million share offer to list on the NZX this year; the Endace Young Achiever Award for its chief technology officer Craig Walker; and one of two NZX Entrepreneur Awards to chief executive Rod Drury, who takes this title for the second year in a row. The other winner is Darrin Grafton, chief executive, Serko.

Christchurch-based company Energy Mad also took two awards, the IRL Emerging Company Award and the K One W One High Growth Award; recognising revenue growth of 2850 percent over the past two years.

Former Supreme Award winner HumanWare, designers and manufacturers of technology for the blind, visually impaired and learning disabled, won two awards this year – the Avnet Corporate Award and the Tahia Investments Company Leader for chief executive Richard Mander.

The awards this year included the Supreme Award, 11 category awards and the Bell Gully Flying Kiwi Award, with two recipients this year, Bill Gallagher, chief executive of Gallagher Group, and the late Trevor Eagle, founder of Eagle Technologies, who died in 2000.

Bill Gallagher and Trevor Eagle join Sir Angus Tait, Neville Jordan, Sir Woolf Fisher, Maurice Paykel and Peter Maire in the New Zealand Hi-Tech Hall of Fame.

Divina Paredes, CIO New Zealand magazine editor, is the second-time winner of the Fronde Hi-Tech Journalist of the Year award. Connect New Zealand, a not-for-profit advisory network for the technology sector, won the professional advisory award. The Enatel Innovation Award went to Fronde Anywhere, a specialist provider of mobile products for the financial services sector.

The Hi-Tech Awards were inaugurated 14 years ago to recognise New Zealand technology businesses that are leading their industries, both here and around the world. The awards also acknowledge the people behind these companies who are working to build businesses around exciting new technologies.
