Freightways signs major contract with Gen-i

“Whole of business” deal covers mobile, voice and data.

Freightways has signed a three-year “whole of business” telecommunications contract with Gen-i. The contract includes voice, mobile and data services, including Gen-i’s new managed data networking service, Gen-i WAN Services.

This move extends Freightways’ existing relationship with Gen-i to include mobile products delivered through Telecom’s XT network.

Freightways, which was ranked at 64 in this year’s MIS100 of leading local ICT using organisations, operates in the domestic express package, business mail and information management markets in New Zealand and Australia. Its New Zealand brands include New Zealand Couriers, Post Haste Couriers, Castle Parcels, Now Couriers, Sub 60, Kiwi Express, Stuck NZ, Security Express and Air Freight NZ Cargo.

Freightways’ CEO Dean Bracewell says Gen-i will help simplify the company’s telecommunications and maximise its technology systems to achieve cost savings and improve productivity.

The investment in Voice over IP will also consolidate the company infrastructure and future proof its telecommunications to include technologies such as unified communications, Blackwell says in a press statement announcing the deal.
