A large manufacturing company, a hotel chain and a boutique coffin maker are among the finalists in this year’s Sustainable 60 Awards. Sponsored by HSBC and Ricoh, the awards reward businesses for their commitment to sustainability. The categories include strategy and governance, workplace, marketplace environment and community. The winners will be announced at a cocktail function in Auckland on 1st December 2010.
The Sustainable 60 series recognises and rewards organisations that have made significant achievements in sustainable business practice, sharing their stories and celebrating excellence.
“They recognise companies who practice sustainability in any aspect of their business, from supply chain through to customers,” says Julie Gill, general manager of Fairfax Media Business Group, which initiated the awards in conjunction with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
“This year's finalists all demonstrated a strong understanding of how sustainable business practice supported their business achieve core objectives. They had integrated sustainable business practice in multiple areas of their business and many had innovative, new approaches to addressing key strategic issues,” says Julia Hoare, PricewaterhouseCoopers partner.
Those entering completed a comprehensive submission outlining their vision for business sustainability, which underwent a robust, three-stage judging process.
