It is one the the largest private sector employers, with close to 18,000 New Zealanders employed in its stores, support offices, processing plants, and distribution centres.

Progressive Enterprises is part of Woolworths Limited, and is also the franchisor of the Super Value and Fresh Choice supermarkets (another 60 stores).

“Countdown’s IT purpose is to make things easier for the team and customers,” says David Morrison, national IT manager. “A large part of the the role of IT is to deliver change within the business and the IT team is currently bedding in a group wide SAP Retail implementation, planning for a pointof- sale and back offi ce application upgrade and beginning a network refresh.” New digital channels and services are also available, expanding on Progressive’s 20-year history in online shopping.

Services such as click and collect, NZ Post parcel pick up and drop ship vendors are being added to its current digital offer.
