  • Key IS projects this year:

Technology modernisation to support the commoditisation of the infrastructure and drive All of Government efficiencies, investment in positioning DHBs to share information via seamless connectivity and accessibility, cybersecurity, enterprise mobility platform, integration and interoperability between primary and secondary healthcare systems.
In upcoming months, the IT team will focus on technology modernisation that will support the commoditisation of infrastructure and drive All of Government efficiencies.

HEALTHALLIANCE CIO KEVIN Robinson says in the past 12 months the ICT team had upgraded and modernised the core infrastructure platforms for the group.

“This has provided improvement in resilience, performance and capacity,” says Robinson.

He says key deliverables for the ICT department included core network replacement and upgrades, and Internet performance and capacity increases.

The ICT team also integrated the four legacy email Exchange platforms into a single mail system and continued virtualisation of the physical servers.

“All core system technologies have had improvements throughout the year,” says Robinson.

healthAlliance is one of the country’s largest shared services organisations, providing IT and non-clinical services for the four Northern district health boards and procurement services to all 20 district health boards.

Its 650 employees work in 15 locations across New Zealand, providing support to around 26,500 district health board and health sector staff.

The IT environment includes all computers, mobile phones, servers and clinical business applications.

In addition to IT project management and planning of multiple local, regional and national projects, healthAllliance provides technical support services, full telecommunications hardware/software systems support, web development, account management and database administration.

Robinson was appointed CIO in August 2015, after holding the interim CIO role for four months. He stepped up to the role from manager solutions delivery, following the resignation of Claire Govier.
